History and origin
It is quarried in the Meuse, in Lorraine, an area rich in building limestones used for centuries in north-eastern France. It is an oolitic limestone of medium hardness, valued for its ease of working and homogeneity. It is used both in new construction and in restoration. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is light beige, with a regular grain and small pores. The colour is fairly consistent, with slight variations between blocks. Honed or brushed, it has a matt, natural look, ideal for large surfaces.
Uses
Suitable for façades, interior walls, cornices, window sills and decorative elements. Not recommended for high-traffic floors, kitchen worktops or very damp areas.
