Gris Morrazo is a compact biotite granite quarried in Galicia, north-western Spain, valued for its sober, uniform appearance. The stone shows a light-to-medium grey background with a medium, even grain and subtle darker speckling from biotite mica; veining is minimal, giving surfaces a calm, consistent character. Its dense structure and irregular fracture make it a dependable material for flooring, wall cladding, staircases, kitchen worktops and exterior paving. Suitable finishes include polished, honed, flamed and bush-hammered, each enhancing the grey tone differently. Marmi di Carrara supplies Gris Morrazo granite as blocks, slabs in 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces, with photos of the actual slabs provided before purchase.

Gris Morrazo Granite: complete guide
Overview
Gris Morrazo is a grey granite from Galicia, in north-western Spain. It is valued for its compactness and a regular pattern that lends itself to large surfaces.
History and origin
The name recalls the Morrazo peninsula, in the province of Pontevedra, in Galicia, one of the most important regions in Europe for granite quarrying. Galician granites have been used for centuries in local architecture and are now exported to many countries. Gris Morrazo is used in construction, paving and street furniture. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is grey, with clearly legible crystals of white feldspar, grey quartz and black mica. The overall effect is homogeneous, with moderate differences in tone between slabs. Polished, it is brilliant and contrasted; bush-hammered or flamed, it takes on a rustic light grey.
Uses
Suitable for façades, public paving, steps, low walls, kitchen worktops and interior floors. The humid climate of its region of origin testifies to its good outdoor performance. For light, very bright worktops it is better to opt for whiter granites.
Care and maintenance
Clean with water and a neutral detergent. In shaded outdoor areas, check for moss growth and remove it with products suitable for stone. A water repellent is useful on rough finishes.
