Bianco Arni: complete guide

Overview

Bianco Arni is a white Tuscan marble with a light background and discreet grey veining. It is chosen by those looking for an understated Apuan white, suited to both classic and contemporary interiors.

History and origin

The name recalls Arni, a village in the Apuan Alps on the Lucca side, an area with a long quarrying tradition linked to marble. Like many Apuan whites, it has been used in building and furnishing both in Italy and abroad. The availability of blocks and slabs varies over time depending on quarrying activity. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Appearance

The background is white, sometimes slightly grey or ivory, crossed by fine, irregular grey veins. The intensity of the veining can vary considerably from one block to another, so it is best to choose the slabs in person or from photos. Polishing brings out the contrast, while honed and brushed finishes give a softer, matt look.

Uses

Suitable for floors, cladding, stairs, bathrooms and vanity tops in residential and prestige settings. It can be used in the kitchen with awareness, accepting that acids and stains will leave marks on the polished surface. Outdoors it performs better with non-polished finishes and in climates that are not too harsh.

Care and maintenance

Clean with lukewarm water and pH-neutral detergents, avoiding limescale removers and acidic products. A periodic stain-proofing treatment reduces the absorption of oils and coloured drinks. Dull marks caused by acids can be removed with professional re-polishing.
