Petrographic description

Persian Yellow is a Travertine quarried in Iran, catalogued in the Marmi di Carrara atlas under the international reference ICIRTR00024. Its dominant tone is yellow & gold.

Like every travertine, it is supplied as raw blocks, gangsaw slabs in 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces made in our Carrara plants. Recommended finishes: honed filled, polished filled, unfilled brushed, tumbled. Typical applications: floors, façades, pool decks, wall cladding, classic and contemporary interiors.

Availability varies with the quarry campaigns: before quoting we check current stock, block sizes and the selection grade, and we send photos of the actual slabs. Price and transport are confirmed by our technical office within one working day.

Persian Yellow Travertine: the complete guide

Overview

Persian Yellow Travertine is a travertine in warm yellow and ochre tones, with golden bands. It is chosen for bright rooms with a Mediterranean feel.

History and origin

It comes from Iran, one of the leading producers of coloured travertines. The yellow variant is appreciated for its brightness and versatility, both indoors and outdoors. It is used in floors, façades, bathrooms and street furniture. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Appearance

The background is golden yellow, with bands ranging from cream to light brown. The natural cavities can be filled with colour-matched resins or left exposed. The contrast of the bands is stronger in the vein cut; tumbling gives an antique, soft look.

Uses

Ideal for interior and exterior floors and cladding, bathrooms, stairs, terraces and pool surrounds. Not well suited to kitchen worktops, due to its porosity and acid sensitivity.

Care and maintenance

Impregnate with a water- and oil-repellent protector and clean with neutral products. Outdoors, check joints and fillings periodically. Avoid acidic products, which damage the surface.
