Juparana Colombo is a natural granite quarried in Sri Lanka, appreciated for its distinctive reddish-purple background crossed by fine black veins. The medium grain and the interplay of mauve, burgundy and dark mineral tones give interiors a warm yet elegant character, which explains its alternative trade name Mauve Juparana. This granite is a popular choice for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, flooring, staircases and wall cladding, in both residential and commercial projects. It takes well to a polished finish, which enhances its depth of colour, while honed or flamed surfaces suit more contemporary settings. Marmi di Carrara supplies Juparana Colombo as blocks, slabs in 2 and 3 cm thickness and cut-to-size pieces, with photos of the actual slabs before purchase.

Juparana Colombo Granite: complete guide

Overview

Juparana Colombo is an Indian granite with a grey-beige background and darker wavy veins. It offers the lively pattern of the Juparana granites in a more neutral, versatile tone.

History and origin

It is quarried in India, a country that produces numerous veined granites sold under the name Juparana alongside the Brazilian ones. It has long been known on the European market for worktops and floors. The name is commercial and does not refer to a specific place. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Appearance

The grey-beige background is crossed by dark grey, white and sometimes pinkish waves, with small burgundy garnets. Variability between slabs is medium to high, with lighter and darker areas. Polishing accentuates the contrast of the waves; honing gives a more uniform, contemporary effect.

Uses

It is used for kitchen worktops, bathroom tops, floors and interior and exterior cladding. Its neutral tones also make it suitable for commercial spaces and offices.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral detergents and apply stain protection periodically. On polished surfaces avoid metal scouring pads.
