Maaninka Pink Granite: complete guide
Overview
Maaninka Pink is a Finnish pink granite. It brings a warm, luminous tone to any setting while keeping the robustness typical of Nordic granites.
History and origin
Maaninka is in Northern Savonia, Finland. Finnish pink and red granites are known in Europe and used for building, street furniture and monuments. The pinkish varieties offer a warm alternative to the more common greys. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The pinkish background is dominated by feldspars, with grey quartz and small dark minerals. The grain can be medium or coarse and the intensity of the pink varies between blocks. Polishing enhances the colour; rough finishes make it softer and more powdery.
Uses
Suitable for floors, stairs, cladding, street furniture, monuments and kitchen worktops. Outdoors it adds warmth to squares and entrances. For minimalist interiors it is best assessed on a sample, because pink is a defining colour.
Care and maintenance
Clean with a neutral detergent; on kitchen worktops, a periodic stain-proofing protector. Outdoors, regular washing prevents dark deposits in areas less exposed to rain.
