Bilecik Pink: complete guide
Overview
Bilecik Pink is a Turkish limestone, sold as marble, in a soft pink colour. It is chosen for delicate, bright spaces with a warm but discreet tone.
History and origin
It takes its name from the province of Bilecik in north-western Turkey, an area known for polishable compact limestones in various shades. Bilecik Pink is distributed on the international market mainly for interior floors and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is light pink or pinkish beige, with a soft pattern, sometimes with small darker veins or speckles. The tone can vary between batches, from salmon pink to a more neutral pink. Polished, it has a bright, warm colour; honed, it looks more pastel.
Uses
Recommended for interior floors, cladding, bathrooms, stairs and window sills. It can be used outdoors in mild climates with matt finishes and a water-repellent treatment. Not recommended for kitchen worktops.
Care and maintenance
Neutral detergents, no acidic or abrasive products. A stain-repellent impregnating sealer is recommended because light stones can absorb oils and pigments. Dry water in wet areas to avoid marks.
