Petrographic description
Absolute Black is a Granite quarried in China, catalogued in the Marmi di Carrara atlas under the international reference ICCNGR02896. Its dominant tone is black.
Like every granite, it is supplied as raw blocks, gangsaw slabs in 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces made in our Carrara plants. Recommended finishes: polished, honed, flamed, bush-hammered, leathered. Typical applications: kitchen worktops, exterior cladding and paving, stairs, monuments, high-traffic floors.
Availability varies with the quarry campaigns: before quoting we check current stock, block sizes and the selection grade, and we send photos of the actual slabs. Price and transport are confirmed by our technical office within one working day.
Supreme Black Granite: the complete guide
Overview
Supreme Black Granite is a black granite with an intense background and little pattern. It is chosen for clean, elegant surfaces where black must take centre stage without noticeable markings.
History and origin
It is an imported granite widely available on the international market among high-end uniform blacks. Materials of this type are often basic rocks such as gabbros or diabases, which the trade classifies as granites. They are in demand for designer kitchens, bathrooms and minimalist cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is deep black, fine-grained, with rare, barely perceptible grey specks. Variation between slabs is minimal, which makes matching and large surfaces easier. Polished, it becomes a black mirror; honed or leathered, it takes on a velvety matt black.
Uses
Perfect for kitchen worktops, bathrooms, floors, stairs, cladding and furniture tops. It can be used outdoors, but in the sun the dark surface gets quite hot.
Care and maintenance
Clean with a neutral detergent and a microfibre cloth, drying so as not to leave limescale marks. On matt finishes use stone-specific products to avoid greasy stains.
